Dean R. Dietrich , a shareholder with Weld Riley, S.C., has represented clients in the areas of lawyer ethics and professional responsibility for more than 35 years. He has represented attorneys in matters before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Office of Lawyer Regulation, and consults with law firms and lawyers regularly regarding compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct. Mr. Dietrich has served as chair of the State Bar Committee on Professional Ethics, in addition to past service on the committee appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to review changes to the Wisconsin Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys. He is a member of the ABA's Center for Professional Responsibility and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. Mr. Dietrich currently serves as past president of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Marquette University Law School.
Andrew T. Fede is of counsel with Archer & Greiner, P.C. He has more than 40 years of legal experience in practice areas including appellate litigation, commercial and governmental civil litigation, local government law, zoning and planning, employment law, estate planning and probate law, real estate law, real estate tax appeals, and constitutional law. He has served as the attorney for the Boroughs of Bogota, Maywood, and Norwood and as the attorney for the Township of Mahwah. Mr. Fede has been the planning board attorney, zoning board attorney, library board attorney, and special counsel in six other New Jersey municipalities. He has served as a certified mediator in the New Jersey Superior Court mediation program for civil, general equity, and probate cases; served as an arbitrator in the Bergen County Superior Court contract/commercial arbitration program; and has been appointed by several Superior Court judges to serve in cases as mediator, arbitrator, special master, and condemnation commissioner. Mr. Fede is an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University and is the author of four books and many articles on legal topics. He is admitted to practice by the New Jersey Supreme Court, the United States Court for the District of New Jersey, the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has argued many times before the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, and five times before the New Jersey Supreme Court
. Mr. Fede earned his B.A. degree from Montclair State and his J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law.
Richard D. Hodsdon recently retired after over 33 years as an assistant Washington County attorney with the Washington County Attorney's Office in Stillwater, Minnesota. He represented Washington County in all aspects of civil law practice and also acts as a criminal prosecutor. Mr. Hodsdon represented the county sheriff and the elected county attorney, with particular emphasis with the Sheriff's Office. He remains a consultant and legal educator, providing consulting services to public criminal justice and corrections administrators, particularly Sheriff's Offices, on policy development and operations. He is an instructor for the International Academy of Public Safety, National Institute of Corrections and the Minnesota State College System. Mr. Hodsdon is an adjunct faculty member for the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. He is counsel to the Minnesota Sheriff's Association and provides legal advice and representation to the association and its members; including emergency operations, patrol, jail personnel and employment law, and all other matters relating to operation of the Sheriff's Office, as well as management of a non-profit organization. In this position, Mr. Hodsdon serves as corporate counsel to the Association, as well as assists individual members. He serves as a citizen member and chair of the board that licenses Minnesota private detectives and protective agents. Prior to Washington County, Mr. Hodsdon spent a year in private practice and eight years as an assistant Minnesota attorney general. He earned his B.A. degree from Concordia College, his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and his master's degree in public administration from Hamline University. Mr. Hodsdon is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Sheriffs Association and the National Sheriffs Association (Legal Advisors Committee), and is admitted to practice before the Minnesota Supreme Court, federal courts and the United States Supreme Court.
Matthew E. Miller-Novak earned his J.D. degree from Chase School of Law, his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Cincinnati, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Youngstown State University. He first moved to Cincinnati in 2001 to study painting at the University of Cincinnati after marrying his wife Jamie. Jamie began teaching high school English in the Three Rivers School District, and Mr. Miller-Novak began teaching painting and drawing at Northern Kentucky University while exhibiting his art regionally and nationally. He soon developed an interest in local government and began getting involved in campaigns and other community service. Mr. Miller-Novak decided to stop teaching and attend law school. Upon his admission at Chase Law, he focused his studies on constitutional jurisprudence and employment discrimination. He graduated cum laude, and he received honors for his trial advocacy skills and legal writing. In addition, Mr. Miller-Novak published two law review articles and spoke at Whittier Law School regarding employment matters in 2014. He is now focusing his practice on employment matters, government accountability, business law, and civil litigation. He is currently assistant prosecutor in Hamilton County, Ohio.
Usman Mohammad is counsel at the New York City office of Kostelanetz LLP. His practice includes New York City and state government procurement matters, civil and criminal tax controversies including tax whistleblower matters, and commercial litigation. Mr. Mohammad has litigated cases in a variety of forums, including New York State Court, federal district courts, U.S. Tax Court and AAA and private party arbitrations. He has extensive experience with government procurement award protests, Article 78 proceedings involving procurement matters, foreign asset reporting issues, IRS responsible person and trust fund recovery penalty matters, IRS whistleblower matters, and IRS collection cases. Mr. Mohammad earned his B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995, and graduated cum laude and Order of the Coif (top 10 percent) from the University of Michigan Law School in 1998. He was the associate editor of the
Michigan
Law Review from 1996 to 1997, and an executive editor from 1997 to 1998. Mr. Mohammad joined Kostelanetz LLP in 2000.
